Teachers Yvonne's School of Dance

Our students are given quality dance training because of the caring and dedication of our faculty.  Our teachers are life-long learners who continue to educate themselves through dance teacher training schools, certification programs, workshops and other continuing education opportunities.  

Our staff includes:  Yvonne Ambrosio (owner, director, teacher), Dawn Belle (co director, teacher), Lauren Synarski, Danielle Andriano, Tracy McManus, Courtney Hoffman, Megan Ehnat, Marissa Aucoin, Jennifer Segner ,Thomas Andriano, Holly Evans (Rockette, Guest teacher)

Miss Yvonne 
Has owned and operated Yvonne's School of Dance since 1979.  Studying with Joe Tremaine, Debbie Dee, Frank Hatchet, Greg Russell, Al Gilbert, (who was a pioneer in tap training and technique for students and teachers), &  Darrell Retter just to name a few and passing on this education to her students and watchng them grow with it, has made all these years of dance "Rewarding Ones".  Miss Yvonne's passion is tap dancing and she takes pride in the tap program that is at the dance studio. 
She has taken her students to perform in Europe, Hawaii (where they studied at the Polynesian Cultural Center iin Hawaii), Disney, Carnival Cruise Lines, Madison Square Garden as well as community performances.  

She is involved with the Edison Arts Society and is in charge of putting on their annual and very successful Holiday Dance Extravaganza, held the first Sunday in December.  This show is televised on the Edison Channel during the months of December and January. 

Each year Miss Yvonne is in charge of putting on some of the most entertaining dance recitals in the area.  This is acheived because all students at our school are given the same attention that our dance company is given.  When our students take the stage each year, the talent, enthusiasm and sheer joy shows in all their faces.  That is what a successful year is all about!

Miss Dawn
Miss Dawn has been a part of Yvonne's School of Dance since she started dancing 37 years ago at the age of 3.  Being Miss Yvonne's niece she grew up at the dance studio.  Miss Dawn was a part of the original "Starlighters" Dance Company when they performed and competed all over the US.  

Miss Yvonne's passion for dance rubbed off on Miss Dawn and she embraced her dance studies with some of the best choreographers in the dance industry.  Many of the choreographers that she studied with during those years now currently have top shows on Broadway. 
Miss Dawn has performed with the dance studio at so many venues.  She traveled with the group to perform in Germany, France & Switzerland, as well as Hawaii.  From taking class with the Rockettes to "teachers only classes" at the Broadway Dance Center, Miss Dawn is always busy making sure her students are given the newest techniques, and lates dance steps.  She is trained in all areas of dance, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hawaiian, Tahitian, Hip-Hop and Pointe.  

Her classes and routines for all ages are always entertaiing and she is a favorite with the students as well as the parents. 

Miss Lauren
Lauren Synarski has been dancing for twenty-four years and has eight years of teachng and choreography experience.  She has trained in all genres of dance.  Her instruction began at Yvonne's School of Dance in Edison.  She competed during most of her childhood as she was a member of the "Starlighters" Dance Company. She has won highest scoring soloist awards and scholarships at regional competitions and conventions.  

Highlights of her dance journey include modeling for Curtain Call Magazine, dancing in Disney and Hershey Park, performing on Carnival Cruise Lines, attending a Broadway Dance Center Intensive with Mandy Moore and taking part in the Rockette Experience.

During her college years she danced in two professional dance companies and also was a back-up dancer for local artists in the Baltimore area.  She taught master dance classes at the Greater York Center for Dance Education and choreographed for a few college dance teams, including Johns Hopkins and Towson University.  Her students have won awards and scholarships for hightes scoring routines and "Best Entertaiment Award" for her choreography.  

Lauren graduated from Georgian Court University in 2007, with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.  Most recently, Lauren choreographed for the Middlesex County College Dance Team in the spring of 2010.  She currently is a dance instructor at her home studio, Yvonne's SOD as well as a youth case manager at Catholic Charities.  

She continues to attend numerous dance workshops every year to further her dance education and give her students the newest technique and styles.  She is also workin gtowards a Master's degree in School Counseling at Kean Univerisy.  She is very excited to be back with Yvonne and all the staff for another wonderful year of dance education!

Miss Danielle
Miss Danielle has been dancing for the past 20 years.  She started with Miss Yvonne when she was 5 years old.  She was also a member of the "Starlighters" Dance Company along with Miss Lauren and continued training, performing and competing up until High School. 

Miss Danielle is a graduate of Rutgers University.  She has earned her BA in Math and her Masters in math education.  She currently is a math teacher a Edison High.  

Miss Danielle's talent in dance enables her to teach all ages and levels, as well as each dance type.  She is great with the preschoolers and yet can jump right into teaching a Hip-Hop class for our teens.  

She continues to attend dance teacher conventions where she is able to keep up her dance training.  I can't remember a year that she was not with us at a dance convention or showcase learnig.  From studying with tap pioneer Al Gilbert, choreographer Mandy Moore, Greg Russell, doing a summer dance intensive at Radio City, a winter teachers intensive at Broadway Dance Center and Monsters of Hip-Hop she is a well rounded teacher for our students. 

Miss Danielle is the choreographer for Edison High Schools Musicals and is the coach for the Edison High School Cheerleaders.  

We are again lucky that she is starting another year with us to pass her talent and love of dance on to her students.  She is one of the most requested teachers by our teens and pre-teens  and her choreography is always fun and exciting. 

Miss Jen
Jennifer Segner is entering her 2nd year as a teacher for Yvonne's School of Dance!  She currently teaches ballet, lyrical and pointe classes at the dance studio.  Jen graudated from Rutgers University (Mason Gross School of the ARts) with a BFA degree in Dance.  

She has performed for many choreographers during college such as Randy James, Julia Ritter, John evans, David Dorfman, Paulette Sears and Tigger Benford.  In addition to performing at Rutgers, she has also performed in NY City at the Alvin Alley Theater and Dance Theater Workshop.  

Jen performs with a small company i Pennsylvania called Fusion Dance Company, with whom she is also a choreographer.  She has been dancing since the age of 3, studying all styles of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, pointe, hip-hop, and contenporary styles.  

In High school she was the captain of her Dance Team at Parkland High School in Allentown, PA.  She has also trained and been certified to teach Zumba Fitness.  Currently Jen has a full time job as a manager at Hollister Co., but she will never give up her love for teaching.  Her strongest passion lies within her choreography, and she is always looking for the most original and unique ways to make her students dance and perform at their best!


Miss Courtney
Miss Courtney has been teaching at Yvonne's School of Dance for the past nine years.  She specializes in ages 3-12 ballet, tap & jazz & lyrical  Starting dance at age five woth Miss Yvonne,  she was a member of the "Starlighters" Dance Company throughout high school and had the opportunity to dance at many different venues such as Carnival Cruise Lines, Disney World, Madison Square Garden, competitions and town events.

A graduate of Kean University, Miss Courtney holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education.  She was a member of Kean Dance Theatre during college and was on the executive board her senior year.  Performing in shows, college events, Arts in theh Garden, Show UP and Dance performances:  Miss Courtney enjoyed all the new dance experiences.  

She had the opportunity to perform at the American College Dance Festiveal in 2010 with KDT and take classes with many different choreographers.  She loves to continue her passion for dance through teaching and hopes to continue to spread the enthusiasm to her students.  

Miss Megan
Miss Megan has been teaching at Yvonne's School of Dance for the past nine years.  She was also a student and member of the "Starlighters" Dance Company, performing and competing.

Miss Megan attended Middlessex College where she was a member of the Middlesex County Dance Team.  She also choreographed some routines MCDT. 

Miss Megan specialty is teaching our preschoolers.  Although she taught teen Jazz this past year she is a continued favorite among our young students and is always requested year after year by their parents to keep her as their teacher.  

As our preschool/kinderdance program is so important to our school, Miss Megan studies with Miss Yvonne and Miss Courtney each summer at a intensive just for this age.  

We are happy that she is back with us again this year while she enables our young students to experience the wonderful world of dance. 

Miss Marissa
Miss Marissa is thrilled to be coming back for her second year as a teahcer at Yvone's School of Dance!  She has been studying dance for over 17 years, 15 of which she spent as a student at Yvonne's. 

Miss Marissa is currently pursuing her BFA in dance at Montclair State University along with a minor in business.  She has had the privilege of studying under choreographers such as Jay T. Jenkins, David Gordon, Karen Gayle and Nancy Lushington to name a few. 

As a member of Montclair State University's Repertory Ensemble, Miss Marissa has trained with professional modern dance companies including Freespace Dance Company, Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company, Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and many others.  She hopes that her passion and enthusiasm wil inspire her students to keep on dancing!

Miss Tracy
Tracy McManus has been dancing for 19 yaers.  She started at Yvonne's when she was three.  At the age of four, she began competing with the "Starlighters" Dance Comany.  She was the youngest student to ever be put in competition at Yvone's School of Dance.  Tracy continued to compete with the "Starlighters" until she graduated high school.

Highlights of her dance journey iclude dancing in Disney and Hersehy Park, performing at Madison Square Garden and on Carnival Cruise Lines, and attending a Rockette Summer Intensive at Radio City Music Hall.

Tracy graduated from Wagner College in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathmatics  She is currently pursuing a Masters in Education at Kean, along with teaching at her home studio, Yvonne's. 

Tracy is a versatile dancer and continues to attend teacher conventions where she is able to maintain her dance training and bring new material to her students.  She looks forward to spending another year at Yvonne's with her fellow staff and her wonderful students.
