25 girls from our Dance Company the “Starlighters” practiced and performed for 4 days in Walt Disney World Florida in December for the ABC taping of Disney’s Very Merry Christmas Parade.

Our student’s were busy with 4:00 am wake up calls and 5:00 am rehearsals on Main Street and in front of the castle before the parks opened.

From there it was more rehearsals and then the big chance to perform in 4 separate ABC tapings for Disney’s Christmas Parade which is shown on TV Christmas Day.

Originally the student’s were to perform in two parades.  After learning the Disney taught routines back home in the studio, we were informed that they then would be part of two additional performances.

The student’s had to learn the Flash Mob Choreography which was to be done with the Jonas Brothers Performance.  The other routine that they had to learn was for Steve Rushtons Main Street performance to Santa Claus is coming to Town, from the movie Santa Buddies.

The girls were excited even though they had one week to learn the extra choreography.  We were then all off to Disney for the hard work, excitement and the fun!

The Jonas Brothers taping was exciting for the student’s as they were right up in front of the stage where the Jonas Brothers performed.  They still come to class each week talking about how they shook their hands and “touched them”.  After 2 hours of rehearsing and 5 full takes with the Jonas Brothers it was a wrap and then the girls were off to change for their Main Street Parade Performance.

The girls performed the Disney taught routine “Sleigh Ride” down Main Street and then were off to prepare for the taping of Steve Rushtons number.

This number was fun for the student’s.  Kelly Ripa was there with the puppies used in the movie and some of the girls and parents got to talk to her and get pictures.  After 4 takes and a good 45 min of camera angles, the Steve Rushton performance concluded with confetti canons being shot, and the exciting day came to an end.

One of our dancers, Madison Watters, got an additional opportunity to be on Disney 365 with the Jonas Brothers.  She was able to meet the Jonas Brothers in person and be part of the taping being aired in January on the Disney Channel.

Our students, parents and teachers will have a lifetime of great memories with these exciting performances.

We were happy to have some of our old “starlighters” (Jr. & Sr members) join us again in Disney and were really excited as members of our two new troupes (our new Mini & Jr troupe) participate in this event.
